A woman and two children, including an infant, died at Niagara Falls after crossing the safety guard rails, New York State Police said.
On Oct. 28, at approximately 9 p.m., New York State Park Police and the New York State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, responded to an incident around Luna Island in Niagara Falls, according to a press release.
The investigation determined that a 33-year-old woman, a 9-year-old and a 5-month-old “went over Niagara Falls on Luna Island.”
Police did not specify the relationship between the three individuals, but did identify the adult woman as Chianti Means, the 9-year-old as Roman Rossman and the infant as Mecca Means.
“The investigation has determined that this incident was intentional in nature, though the circumstances remain under investigation,” police said, adding that search and rescue efforts were conducted but were unsuccessful.
They deemed the incident as not a threat to the public and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
